Das Gängeviertel ist ein historisches Gebäudeensemble mitten in der Innenstadt Hamburgs. Einst besetzt von Künstlern und Aktivisten, ist es heute ein renommiertes Kunst- und Kulturzentrum mit mit regen Programm in seinen Galerien, Konzerträumen, Werkstätten und Bars. Mitten darin befindet sich unser Artist-in-residency Studio. Wir freuen uns auf eure Bewerbungen.
Eingeladen sind KünstleriInnen, die Lust haben ihrer Arbeit im Kontext des Gängeviertels nachzugehen.
Für die Dauer des Aufenthalts wird der Arbeitsraum/ das Atelier mit Übernachtungsmöglichkeit mietfrei vergeben.
Darüber hinaus ist es zur Zeit nicht möglich eine Vergütung zu zahlen.
Im Laufe der Residenz ist eine Veröffentlichung der entstandenen Arbeit ausdrücklich erwünscht. Form und Inhalt werden dem Gast überlassen - von der klassischen Ausstellung über Vortrag bis hin zu ganz anderen, experimentellen Formaten sind alle Output-Formen willkommen.
Wir bitten die Bewerbungen ausschließlich im PDF-Format zu versenden.
Der Bewerbung sind folgende Unterlagen beizufügen:
• Kurzes Anschreiben mit der gewünschten Aufenthaltsdauer
(Der Aufenthalt sollte ca. sechs Monate umfassen, mindestens jedoch drei.)
• Lebenslauf
• Arbeitsvorhaben /-ansatz. Wir erwarten keine voll ausgearbeiteten Konzepte, lediglich eine kurze Ausführung bzw. Ideenskizze, in welche Richtung die Arbeit angedacht ist.
• Dokumentation bisheriger Arbeiten damit der Arbeitsansatz bzw. die Arbeitsweise er sichtlich wird (z.B. Bilder, kurze Texte, etc.)
• ggf. Portfolio mit Arbeitsproben
Der nächste Residenzaufenthalt beginnt am 1. April 2023, kann aber auch später im Jahr angetreten werden.

Artist Residency in the Gängeviertel Hamburg
The Gängeviertel awards a residency for a period of up to six months.
The Gängeviertel is a historic ensemble of buildings in the middle of Hamburg’s city centre. Once occupied by artists and activists, it is now a renowned art and cultural centre with a lively program in its galleries, concert spaces, workshops and bars.
In the middle of it is our artist in residency studio. We look forward to receiving your applications.
Invitations are issued to artists with a desire to pursue their work in the context of the Gängeviertel.
The work space/studio with a sleeping opportunity are provided rent-free for the duration of the stay. Furthermore, it is currently not possible to make any payment. Publication of the work created during the residency is expressly encouraged. Form and content are left to the guest:
All forms of output are welcome – from the classic exhibition or lecture to completely different, experimental formats.

The application should include the following documents:
• A brief letter stating the desired length of stay (residency of up to six months is possible, at least three month.)
• Résumé / CV
• Work project/working approach. We do not expect fully elaborated concepts, just a short explanation or a rough draft indicating the intended direction of the work.
• Documentation of previous work to illustrate the applicant‘s work approach and methods (e.g. pictures, short texts, etc.)
• Where applicable, a portfolio of work samples
The next residency period begins on April 1st, 2023.
The stay can also be started later in the year.
